A body of work produced from a week spent staying on a farm in rural Zennor, St Ives. The contrast and relationship between the land and sea in this location was fascinating. Ragged, textural land was an interesting contrast to the quiet stillness of the setting; a handful of cars a day passed us by on the lane and all to be seen was a couple of farmhouses and the local pub. The task of capturing the textures of the land and sea whilst also conveying the stillness of the surroundings made for a captivating project. There was plenty to unpack in this irregular, beautiful landscape.
A body of work inspired by the varied and beautiful landscape found in the Cotswolds. Patchwork fields and rolling hills are a familiar view in this landscape, with stone paths and hedgerows defining the shapes and patterns seen in these views. Characterful sheep and horse riders often appear in this series of work, portraying life in the Cotswolds
A collection of paintings produced whilst on holiday in Bude, Cornwall. After visiting every year for over a decade it was time to start painting this wonderful place! The varied views of the landscape range from dramatic waves against interesting rock formations, patchwork fields of the local farmland and the vibrant beach that is always full of holiday goers in the summer. The variation in this location made for an inspiring project that will continue to grow in the studio.
