Finding hidden Cornish coves
Portraying the view on discovering a hidden cove on a beach in North Cornwall on a beautiful day. The crashing waves of the sea can be seen in the distance behind the rocks which are built up with thick layers of paint. Washes of thin paint over the sand show how the cove was hidden in during high tide.
Thick paint was applied spontaneously with a palette knife to build the structures of the rocks and textures in the sand. Vivid colours were used to convey the warmth of the perfect summers day. The rocks are full of many tones of browns and greys. The pieces has bold and varied texture throughout.
