Richly layered impasto style paintings of your treasured horses.
Having loved horses for as long as I can remember, I completely understand the impact their characters have on our lives. My hope is to create something for you that can be cherished for a lifetime, a piece of significance that will be there when they may no longer be. My equine portraits are painted in a similar way as my landscape work with thick oil paint applied with a palette knife. I offer a range of sizes that are available to view below along with a price list. They are painted on deep edge linen canvas as standard ready to hang, however framing is also available. THE PROCESS
Getting started
To get started I’ll need a selection of photographs and the size of canvas you’d like to order. I'm happy to work from a single favourite image or from collection of images to build the portrait, I understand that it isn't always possible to have the perfect portrait-ready image to hand! As a tip, I have found photographs of horses in work, particularly jumping, do make beautiful portraits once they’re cropped if you're struggling to find a headshot. I always welcome any extra information you'd like to share, whether that be features you are particularly fond of, or something about the horse that a photograph doesn't quite show or even something about their personality you'd like me to know. It's always a joy to hear all about your special horses.
Composition
Once I have the above I will send over a basic drawing, this will either be an outline trace from a chosen photograph or a sketch made from a selection of photographs. This part of the process is mostly about making sure you are happy with the pose and composition on the canvas as once I start the painting I can’t alter the composition. Once you are happy with the composition, I will need 25% deposit to continue with the painting.
The paint
Onto the paint, this is where the portrait comes to life! Before starting the painting, I will be in touch to confirm that you’ll be happy to receive and review the work within the next few days. The way I work means that it’s difficult to make amendments once the paint starts to dry, so I will need feedback ideally within a few of days. It’s really important to me that I capture your horse just as you see them, so any and all comments are always welcome! Once you’re happy, full payment is then required.
Drying and delivery
It can take up to 4 weeks for the paint to dry all the way through as I use such thick oil paint. Once dry I’ll be in touch to arrange delivery. As well as postal delivery I am happy for you to collect from my studio near Cheltenham, or when possible I try my best to hand deliver my work.

Testimonials
"I highly recommend Georgie! She is fantastic at what she does. (Fancy That) is my childhood pony that I had to sell in 2005 when I went onto horses. Most of my pictures have faded of her now so I wanted something to remember her by. Georgie understood how special she was to me and was extremely eager to capture her correctly, talking me through each phase and checking the eye, colour and characteristics of her at every step. Considering the photos I provided weren’t fantastic she managed to get her spot on! I’ve wanted to invest in some art pieces for a while. Her style has a slight twist to the traditional equine portraits I have considered in the past which makes them stand out from the crowd, a talking piece and feels extra unique. So pleased with the end result I am even considering commissioning her to do our dogs next. " "I have a very special heart-horse. I bought my mare when she was a spindly yearling and we have been together for 28 years. I fully expect her to go for at least another ten! I first saw Georgie’s horse portraits online and knew she was not only a terrific painter but she was also a “horse person”. I commissioned her to create a special portrait for me. I am thrilled and Georgie was super to work with."
"Georgie is a gifted local artist whose oil paintings skillfully capture the spirit of horses. One of her standout pieces is a stunning portayal of our horse Murphy, showcasing Georgies remarkable talent for nringing these magnificant creatures to life on canvas with her own unique style. If you're seeking exceptional equine art with feeling, Georgie is your artist of choice"
